Osaka Port “HaHaHA”: I enjoyed a deliciously sour lemon tart at this retro cafe located near the Kaiyukan Aquarium!
After visiting the Kaiyukan Aquarium, I’d recommend visiting “HaHaHa” near Tenbozan for their delicious sweets.
“HaHaHa” is on a large road to the south of the Aquarium.
The store is on the 2nd floor of the retro building just before the entrance to the Osakakosakishima tunnel that leads to Nanko (Cosmo Square, ATC, Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building).
The koala in front of the store…
The sign says “Help yourself to plants. Just put the amount you feel is appropriate into my back.”
So apparently you can set your own price for the plants.
Is there really a cafe in this building!?!?
Climb the stairs and you’ll find two entrances.
I couldn’t hear any background music coming from the cafe, but maybe it was just covered up by the sound of traffic from the street. I felt a little bit unsure…
There’s an antique register in front of the door…
Next to that there are some pictures of sweets with the words “pesticide free” and “organic”…
It would appear that there really is a cafe beyond these doors.
It’s not possible to see what’s happening through the clouded glass, so I gathered my courage and entered.
There are several wooden tables, like in a general store.
In the back there are two ladies and two store employees who appear to be a married couple.
On the menu they have Hashed Beef Rice and Hashed Rice Beef Omelets in addition to a full selection of sweets.
I ordered a lemon tart (450 yen) made from homemade lemons only available in this season and a coffee.
The cute coffee cup and plates.
The bittersweet coffee has the gentle taste that I love.
I have high expectations for the lemon tart with homemade lemons.
Moist lemon flavor with a creamy dough.
The elegant scent of the acidic lemons lasts straight through to the aftertaste.
I don’t think that I’ve ever had a tart with such refreshing acidity…
I definitely recommend this sour tart to anyone who likes lemons.
Everything was satisfying, right down to the small biscuits that were served with the coffee.
It was delicious! Thank you so much!
HaHaHa is located on a large road so there’s noise from the traffic, but inside the shop there’s a comfortable atmosphere that one could spend hours in.
Next, I think I’d like to try the Omelet Hashed Beef Rice (850 yen) and the Hashed Beef Rice (700 yen).
*For those who like sweets with lemon
*For those who like to relax in retro cafes
*For those looking for delicious sweets near the Kaiyukan Aquarium
I recommend the HaHaHa cafe in Tenbozan.
