Japanese-style cafe Nagaoka’s “Matcha Milk Kintoki Shaved Ice”
As I was cycling on the west side of subway Yotsubashi Line “Yotsubashi Station”, I found a Japanese-style cafe I’ve never seen before!
I was lured by the look of Matcha Shaved Ice.
It was Japanese-style cafe Nagaoka that just opened on June 25, 2015.
I had to experience this, so I immediately entered the shop.
The stylish interior, hardly expected of a Japanese-style cafe, is fresh.
I take a seat and at once check the menu.
There are a wide variety of shaved ice on the menu.
What surprised me most from the Japanese-style cafe Nagaoka’s menu, was wagashi shop Isshin’s warabimochi (350 yen).
It is only available from Tuesday through Saturday (limited to 20 servings), but it’s delightful that you can enjoy warabimochi from Osaka’s famous wagashi shop here.
This time I ordered Matcha Milk Kintoki Shaved Ice.
All toppings are served separately.
Matcha syrup, milk syrup, syrup.
Three shiratama dumplings and original anko.
First I pour on the matcha syrup.
Next the milk syrup.
Finally I adjust the sweetness with the syrup.
Here I take a little taste.
I made a shaved ice with an excellent balance of the bitter matcha, rich milk, and sweet syrup.
After enjoying it for a while, I lavishly top the anko.
I poured on all the remaining matcha syrup and milk syrup.
It looks completely different now from the originally white shaved ice.
This truly is Matcha Milk Kintoki Shaved Ice!
Here I go!
The contrast between the crunchy ice and firm anko is delightful.
The bitter matcha and sweet anko. The cold ice enhances their goodness, and this truly is Japanese shaved ice.
With the shiratama, you can enjoy the chewiness and mild flavor and this is nice too.
I was impressed with the Japanese-style harmony created with each of the quality ingredients.
The flavor makes you want to keep eating from one to the next.
Finally, the melted ice turns into cold matcha milk.
I enjoyed the afterglow of the shaved ice with the matcha flavor.
It was delicious. Thank you!
Japanese-style cafe Nagaoka that newly-opened in the sweets shop and cafe battleground, offers quality Japanese sweets in a gorgeous shop.
