A Hidden Restaurant in Shinsaibashi: Robata Chance Ginpei
Do you know of a shop in a Shinsaibashi building where you can enjoy fresh fish and yummy desserts?
The restaurant I visited for dinner this time, “Robata Chance Ginpei” , is precisely that shop.
Here, you can enjoy seafood cuisine with ingredients delivered directly from the harbor in a relaxing Japanese-style store interior.
Just seeing the handwritten menu indicating the fish in season which they have in stock for the day is already raising my expectations.
This time, I picked the course worth ¥3500.
Daizu no Shoyu Ni (Soy Beans cooked in Soy Sauce).
Umeshu (Plum Wine) Soda.
A Seiro (a Japanese rectangular steamer made of bamboo/wood) appears before me.
Their special ponzu (a citrus and soy-based sauce) brings out the flavor of the ingredients even more.
Three kinds of sashimi.
The in-season fish they got in stock that day was filled with rich flavor.
The Japanese Sake (Rice Wine) also helps bring out the flavor of the fish.
A small serving of soba.
Stew with fish freshly caught that morning.
If you put some hot spring water into the broth, you can also enjoy it by itself.
I ended up drinking two wine cups worth without realizing it.
Right now, it’s 8:00 p.m.
Past 8:00 p.m., their fish dishes are all sold at 50% off, and their lineup of food served in a bamboo basket can be enjoyed for ¥300.
They had delicious-looking hairtails today, so I ordered some to be grilled.
This is their Tai Meshi (Rice with Red Snapper), which is also a specialty at their sister store, “Ginpei.”
The red snapper is ground and mixed into the rice and is served in a rice bowl for you.
This rice was so good, I was surprised!
The flavor of the broth and red snapper infused into the rice is amazingly delicious.
A relaxing moment with the gentle taste of Miso soup.
I also greatly enjoyed the delicious grilled fish (¥300) I ordered a while ago.
Finally, it’s time for dessert.
Rich Vanilla Ice Cream.
Kanten (Japanese Gelatin).
A fried pastry made with soba flour.
They’re all delicious.
Especially the soba flour fried pastry which, when eaten with the ice cream, lets you enjoy aroma and sweetness at the same time.
From the fish, to the dessert, to their service—the quality of everything was greatly satisfying.
That was a very delicious dinner. I had a wonderful time!
