Special Shaved Ice by “Tezukayama Toki” in Hankyu Sanbangai
If you ever find yourself craving some delicious shaved ice in “Hankyu Sanbangai” underground shopping center at Hankyu Umeda Station’s basement, I recommend you try “Tezukayama Toki” .
Established in 1948, you can find their main store in Tezukayama.
The shaved ice models displayed at the shop front look super realistic.
I check the menu inside the store.
They’re currently offering a special shaved ice for a limited period!
I ordered their Special Shaved Ice (¥1296, Tax-included).
Today, I visited after dinner time so I was able to get a seat inside the store smoothly. My shaved ice arrived five minutes after ordering.
The shaved ice was topped with some Kanten (Japanese Gelatin), Azuki (Red Beans), Shiratama (Rice Flour Dumplings), and home-made Warabi Mochi (jelly-like confection dipped in sweet toasted soybean flour).
It also had some green tea ice cream on top!
It’s probably more fitting to call this the ultimate pinnacle of Japanese confectionery rather than shaved ice.
Time to eat!
The taste of green tea in the crunchy ice is very pleasant.
The chewiness of the Warabi Mochi is wonderful. It fills your mouth with a gentle sweetness.
The refined sweetness of the Azuki.
The chewiness of the Shiratama.
Fresh and juicy orange.
Also some sumptuous melon.
This is the pinnacle of extravagance.
Tasting the chewiness of the Kanten as well.
Including some green tea ice cream with it too made me really happy.
With this shaved ice, I had the pleasure of enjoying various refined flavors you’d normally find at a Japanese confectionery shop.
It was very delicious. That was a wonderful dessert!
Lastly, I had some hot tea.
