First established in Chicago, and popular in Tokyo, Chiba, and Nagoya, the specialist popcorn store “Garrett Popcorn Shops” has made its first step in Kansai.
It opened on August 5th (Wed), 2015.
This time I will report my experiences at the reception before the store opened.

“Garrett Popcorn Shops” was established in Chicago, USA in 1949. It is a specialist popcorn store which makes top quality popcorn using a secret family recipe and homemade formulas passed on for over 65 years and 3 generations. The store uses only corn with large kernels grown on specially contracted farms.

The store is located in Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street.
It is found between Shinsaibashi and Namba (Ebisubashi).

c00151-04-min

Look out for the big letters saying “garrett” on the store front.

c00151-05-min

Enter the shop and you are hit by the rich aroma of popcorn.
Apparently the popcorn is being made in the back, but you cannot get a glimpse from inside the store.

c00151-06-min

There are several different flavors, and you can order the flavor and size you like.

c00151-07-min

There are six different flavors on the menu.
You can choose from three different sizes (small, medium, and large).

c00151-08-min

There are also special popcorn cans.
In a bag, the popcorn must be eaten the same day, but if you buy it in a can it will last for ten days.

The top cans in the photo are Quart cans and the bottom cans are 1Gallon cans.

c00151-10-min

All the types of popcorn were full of flavor with an excellent texture.

There is a new Matcha Caramel Crisp flavor, only available from the Shinsaibashi store.

c00151-20-min

You can enjoy the taste of matcha with your popcorn.

c00151-21-min

The balance between the texture of the popcorn, the bitterness of the matcha, and the sweetness of the caramel is fantastic. If you like matcha, you should definitely try it. It was absolutely delicious!

The Shinsaibashi-only Matcha Caramel Crisp flavor can be bought for a limited time only in 1Gallon cans (¥3,000).
