Shinsaibashi Goshu Aburaya’s famous steak curry
For today’s lunch we went to “Goshu Aburaya”, a steak house in Shinsaibashi.
Originally a steak house, this popular restaurant has a low-price lunch menu centered on curry.
There are a number of appealing dishes to choose from, but we decided to go with the most popular dish, steak curry (1000 yen).
You can choose how spicy you want it. We went with “Super Duper Spicy.” （＾＾
“It’s turned into red curry,” said the chef as he served our food. It certainly did look red!
Served with generous portions of steak made from Japanese beef, it was a very extravagant dish!
Starting with the red curry…
This thick curry was stewed to the point that its vegetables and meat practically melted away, packing it with rich and hearty flavor!
It was a pretty spicy dish: right at the limit for me, but still very delicious.
The fact that I could still taste the delicious flavors despite it being that spicy makes me think that a normal level of spice would be even more delicious.
And the inside of the meat, cooked rare…
Soft and juicy, it was an exceptional complement to the curry!
Getting food this good for 1000 yen is extremely satisfying!
All dishes come with a soup and salad during lunch hours (11:30 to 5:00). What a deal!
Their dishes are so good, you’re going to want to try them all （＾＾
Lunch hours are from 11:30 to 5:00, and although the dishes no longer come with soup and salad after 5:00, the menu itself doesn’t change. You can still order all the same dishes!
And they even have lunch hours on Saturdays as well! How nice!
The shop has 10 counter seats, and is run by the owner-chef and two women.
It is located on the first floor of the building, but is tucked away inside and may be hard to spot if you’re just walking by.
Despite that, and the fact that we came a bit late, we were surprised to find it full of customers!
I feel like I’ll be making this a regular stop （＾＾
