Juroku Honten in Chayamachi, Kita Ward, Osaka
I had dinner at Juroku Honten, an izakaya in Chayamachi, Kita Ward, Osaka.
You can enjoy offal skewers and Korean home-cooking there!
The skewers are quite reasonable, with prices starting at ¥150 each!
“Harami” (¥280 each)
They offer a whole variety of organ parts, but you must try their super-thick cuts of harami!
This was SOOOO GOOD!
The harami was incredibly tender and juicy!
Dip your meat skewers in the flavorful “Famous Masuda Miso”—it goes great with beer! 😀
Before long, I had ordered a whole bunch of different types…
These were AMAZING!
I really enjoyed the different tastes and textures of each type of meat!
They were all delicious!
I enjoyed another beer as I ate “Black Garlic Kimchi” (¥580).
“Awaji Whole Roasted Onion” (¥420)
These require a lot of work to prepare, so they only make 5 a day!
It was SOOO TASTY!
The onion was so soft it practically melted in your mouth, and it had a wonderful sweetness that perfectly matched the mango sauce!
“Vegetable and Glass Noodle Salad” (¥650)
The Korean dish, japchae! 🙂
One word: YUM!!
It had a really flavorful, authentic taste!
“Chicken Karaage” (¥590)
This was FANTASTIC!!
The breading was crispy and had a great aroma, and the spicy sauce was the perfect match for this amazing karaage!
I enjoyed a whiskey and soda with the “Kimchi Platter” (¥580).
“Blanched Top-Quality Rumen Tripe” (¥480)
It was GREAT!!
It was very fresh, so it had an amazing flavor, with the sweetness really shining through!
“Trippa and Fruit Tomato Stew” (¥780)
I took a bite and…
The trippa (tripe) had been cooked until melt-in-your-mouth soft and was fully infused with the robust, sweet tomato sauce flavor, making this one tasty dish!
“Collagen Tomato Hot Pot” (¥1,700 per serving; two servings pictured.)
The top was completely covered in tomatoes; this dish had some real volume!
This alone looks like it could be shared among 5 or 6 people!
Gently simmer, and once the tomatoes shrink down a bit, enjoy!
There were a bunch of vegetables and offal meat hidden under the tomatoes!
This was REALLY GOOD!
Each of the ingredients soaked up the wonderful, sweet tomato flavor; this was absolutely delicious!
Yamazaki Highball (ﾟДﾟ)
I opted to finish off the remaining soup with ramen noodles…and what’s this?! They turned out to be Korean ramen noodles!
I brought the soup up to a simmer, and the noodles soaked the soup right up!
That was SOOO GOOD!!
I really have no control when it comes to junk food… 😀
“Famous Abalone Rice Porridge” (¥1,380)
Abalone rice porridge with Korean seasoning!
This was TASTY!
It had a fantastic flavor, loaded with the bold taste of abalone and liver!
The skewers and the Korean home-cooking were both very reasonably priced!
Located on the sixth floor, this restaurant is not one of those places you’d notice if you were to just walk by. But it does have a fantastic location, being right in the middle of Umeda. So it’s the best place to have a party or go out for drinks in the area!
So make a reservation and give it try!
