“SAWADA” in Shinsaibashi

A lunch that's overflowing with elegance by a chef from a famous restaurant in Hong Kong—and at an affordable price!

For today’s lunch, I went to a Chinese restaurant in Shinsaibashi called “SAWADA”.
Here, you can help yourself to genuine Chinese cuisine prepared and extensively arranged by their chef using the skills he has gained after training at a famous Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong.
For lunch, they offer three choices: the “Yamcha Lunch,” “Tantanmen Lunch,” and their “Daily Special Lunch.” I had quite a hard time picking one…
In the end, I had their “Daily Special Lunch” (¥880) with “Mini Mapo Doufu” (+¥150).
The main dish for today’s daily special is “Crispy Fried Chicken Thigh Meat with Spice Vegetable Sauce ‘You Lin Chi Toi’.” Along with it are Tianjin, soup, salad, pickled vegetables, and eat-all-you-can Toyama Koshihikari Rice. Count in the Mini Mapo Doufu I added earlier, and this meal gets a perfect score for size!

The breading was very crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. The flavorful spice vegetable sauce matched perfectly with the chicken!

“Mini Mapo Doufu” (+¥150)
Even though it’s called “mini,” the serving filled this deep bowl and that made me really happy!

Deliciooouuusss!!
First you taste a deep richness and flavor, and after that comes the numbing spiciness of the Sichuan Sansho (Japanese pepper). It was wonderful!
I was deeply impressed by this encounter with such a genuine-tasting Mapo Doufu!

I tried putting some on my rice…

Deliciooouuusss!!
The rice by itself was very sweet and delicious, so it was a splendidly perfect match with the flavorful Mapo Doufu!

The meal came with some Annin Tofu (Apricot Kernel Pudding) for dessert, so I’m now full and very satisfied!!

The restaurant is located on the basement floor of the building. The store interior was stylish and overflowing with neatness. I can understand why the overwhelming majority of their customers were female. (^^
I would very much like to pay them another visit in the evening and taste more of their various dishes while drinking some beer or Shaoxing wine (Chinese rice wine)!
