Uoi Main Store
We visited “Uoi Main Store”, a Unagi specialty restaurant in Asahi-ku in Osaka, for dinner.
We visited one of my favorite restaurants that serves delicious Unagi, for the first time in a long while!
When I try it with the cucumbers…
Crispy and smoky Unagi matches perfectly with the crunchy cucumbers, and the sweet and sour acidity of salted plum is simply amazing!
“Grilled Unagi liver” (￥670)
The savoriness of the liver is very rich!
The plump egg, with deep brothy flavors, matches perfectly with Unagi.
“Whale bacon” (￥1,100)
It is great that we can have whale at a Unagi restaurant!
The fat on the crunchy bacon is both sweet and rich, and very delicious!
“Japanese egg cockle (Torigai), surf clam (Hokkigai), and squid ceviche” (￥650)
The clean Miso-vinegar flavor accentuates the savoriness of the shellfish and squid!
“Squid in its ink” (￥500)
Irresistible flavors for sake-lovers. The rich umami of squid ink blends perfectly with the umami of the squid meat.
“Supreme Hitsumabushi” (￥3,800)
A great dish featuring a large piece of Unagi!
The first bowl was eaten as is…
Crispy skin and fluffy meat. It was very sweet.
Added some toppings for the second bowl…
Whaaaat??? SO GOOOOD!
Wasabi really brought together the flavors!
Added the broth for the third bowl!
This was simply amazing (^^
I am so full, and completely satisfied.
They offer a variety of small dishes, in addition to Unagi, allowing us to enjoy it as both Izakaya and Unagi specialty restaurant.
We got to the restaurant around 6:00pm, but it was already full. 5-6 people were waiting outside of the restaurant, and additional 7-8 people were waiting inside!
It is so popular.
It is a perfect place, when you are in the mood for having some drinks with Unagi and delicious small dishes.
