Katsudon Yoshibe Higashi-Umeda Store in Doyamacho

This Delicious, Hearty Katsudon Will Fill You Up!

For my lunch today, I went to “Katsudon Yoshibe Higashi-Umeda Store”, a katsudon (deep-fried pork cutlet rice bowl) restaurant in Doyamacho, Kita-ku.
This is the sister branch to a katsudon shop in Sannomiya, Kobe that’s famous for attracting long lines of customers!
There is a wide selection of dishes to choose from, including regular katsudon, katsudon with sauce, miso mayonnaise katsudon, mincemeat cutlet katsudon and more. You also have a choice of the amount of rice or egg included with your meal, along with many different toppings, making for a ample and varied menu.

“Jumbo Two-Egg Katsudon” (¥830)

This is a very rich and hearty katsudon! It has more tonkatsu and rice than the regular-sized katsudon (¥680), and on top of that, it’s made with two eggs.

Looking at it from the side, not only is the bowl huge, but the food is stacked up high!

The egg and the dashi broth in this tonkatsu are perfectly mixed together…

Soooo tasty!!
The tonkatsu was fairly tender and sweet, and it had completely absorbed the savory broth — delicious~!
Even the broth-soaked rice was so delicious, I ended up pigging out. (^ ^

The red miso soup is ¥50, and the pickled vegetables are all you can eat for free!

All of the items on this big menu are very reasonably priced, don’t you think?

When I went to the restaurant around 12:30, I couldn’t even get in line. Since the seats are typically all full, there was seemingly no end to the customers who made their way in to buy take-out.
After eating until my stomach was full, I felt GREAT!
I think I’ll go out and eat katsudon whenever I’m not feeling so great from now on. (^ ^
