“Umibe no Chaya Shizuki” in Fukushima

You can get your fill with very high quality tuna at a reasonable price!

For today’s lunch, I went to the tuna specialist restaurant “Umibe no Chaya Shizuki” in Fukushima ward.
It is a hugely popular store where you can get high-quality, fresh tuna bought from the Osaka Municipal Wholesale Market at surprisingly reasonable prices.

“Speciality Toro Wasabi choice rice bowl” (¥1200)
This is a wonderfully deluxe, very large rice bowl. It has a lot of tuna marinated in soy sauce spread out on top, and on top of that there is wasabi-topped fatty tuna!
With miso soup included in the ¥1200 price, it’s hard to believe that it’s this cheap!

First I try the fatty tuna.

Wooooow, sooooo tasty!
It is soooo sweet, and as the wasabi flavor mixes subtly with the tuna, it melts away in your mouth!
I wonder whether it’s okay to have such a luxurious meal for lunch (^ ^

Soy sauce-marinated tuna and rice

Wooooow, soooo tasty!
The warm sushi rice and the tuna are a perfect match and so good!!
There is lots of tuna on top, and with plenty of rice too I am almost too satisfied!

Miso soup and potato salad

Soooo tasty!
The taste of the dashi comes through really well in the miso soup and is absolutely delicious!
The homemade potato salad has that taste that just makes you want to drink beer (^ ^

As I went to the restaurant, the master was making a sashimi set meal and sashimi, but compared to the last time I ate it, he was making it even bigger and the amount was just amazing!
So I’ll just have to go back and try the sashimi set meal (^ ^
I arrived just as they were opening at 11:50, and customers kept on coming. All empty seats were gone and a line starting forming outside in no time at all!
With such delicious tuna at such a great price, it’s no wonder that they are so popular!
I’ll definitely be back again!
