“Sakana no Ueyoshi Kyobashi Store”

This tavern (featuring delicious fresh fish!) has a lunch set so huge, you'll walk away stuffed to the gills!

Today’s lunch was at a place called “Sakana no Ueyoshi Kyobashi Store” in Kyobashi.
Their reasonably-priced cuisine is centered around some of the freshest seafood around… Did I mention they were a tavern, by the way? They’ve earned quite a reputation with their open bar special, where you can drink your choice (and your fill!) of over 120 different local varieties of sake for the low, low price of 3,000 yen.

“Tairyo Hiruzen” (1,000 yen)
Tempura, sashimi, grilled fish, chawanmushi, chilled tofu, red miso soup, rice, pickled vegetables… That’s a lot of food!

First, I tried the tempura with the dipping sauce.

My taste buds exploded!
Fresh out of the fryer and piping hot! The batter was light and crispy, and even from the first bite I could tell these guys were using some high-quality ingredients!

The sashimi.

Wow, that’s GOOD!!
The tuna and squid were both wonderfully fresh, and absolutely delicious!

The grilled mackerel.

Yum, yum, yum!!
Plump, juicy, and super filling! Delicious!

The red miso soup and chawanmuchi.

Aaah! It’s so good!

Their lunch menu featured a wide variety of extremely appealing options!
I stopped by around noon, and let me tell you, that was not a small shop and nearly every seat was full. It was busy!
And what a fantastic tavern it was. You could enjoy a nice lunch with a glass of sake on Saturday, or eat your fill during the work week on their generous lunch menu.
Some nice evening in the future, I think I’ll be stopping by again to try out that 3,000 yen open bar!
