Nostalgic Turkish Rice

For today’s lunch, I went to “Grill stereo”, a Western-style Japanese food restaurant near the intersection at Tanimachi 4-Chome.
Grill stereo is only open for lunch, and today I came to eat their “Turkish Rice” that I’d always wanted to try.
It takes a long time to prepare this Turkish Rice dish, so it can only be ordered after 1pm.
I’ve tried coming here twice in the past but they were closed as they sold out both times. But I finally made it today!
This restaurant’s “Turkish Rice” consists of a meat cutlet on top of a bed of ketchup rice, topped with a partially cooked egg and brown sauce.

The thin meat cutlet was deep-fried to a fragrant crisp and the perfectly cooked egg clung on nicely to the meat.
The ketchup rice has rather large pieces of onion in it. The taste of the ketchup is very prominent. So simple and delicious.

The ketchup flavor somehow brought about a nostalgic feeling.
Although the taste of the brown sauce was kind of light, you could taste the rich flavor that is unique to these Western-style Japanese restaurants where they take their time to slowly prepare their sauces.
After tasting this, I really feel like trying a hamburger steak or minced cutlet topped with this brown sauce.

Only four types of set menus are available between opening time and 1pm, and after 1pm, you can order a la carte items, too.
It is open for lunch until 3pm but it closes once it gets sold out.
Often, it is closed around 2pm, so those who are aiming to try the Turkish Rice, be warned!
