Benitoraken Shinsaibashi Store

Attention, mabo tofu lovers! "Inazuma Mabo Rally 2016" is upon us!

For lunch today, I went to a chinese restaurant in Shinsaibashi called “Benitoraken Shinsaibashi Store”.
Their “Mabo Tofu Rally 2016” is in full swing during September, from the 1st to the 31st of this month!
This promotion features ten renowned Chinese restaurants throughout Osaka, where for a limited time diners can walk from one shop to another sampling mabo tofu on inazuma.
During this time, anyone can order mabo tofu from any of the participating shops!
[Inazuma Mabo Set] (950 JPY)
The mabo tofu itself is presented as a single item on the menu, but the shop attendants offered it as a set as well. Shockingly, it was the same price as just the mabo tofu!

They draw a lightning bolt on top with their special super-spicy bright red sauce!

Let’s try a spoonful…

Wow, wow, wow! It’s soooo good!
First you’re hit by a wave of intense spiciness, and then a thick, savory umami so intense it almost hurts! It’s fantastic!

Now to try it on rice.

Delicious! It’s so, so, so good!!
Coupled with the rice, it’s so delicious I almost can’t stop myself! (^^

Here are all 10 restaurants that are participating in the “Inazuma Mabo Rally 2016”!
The only thing is, some of the restaurants only offer the dish at night, so be sure to keep that in mind.

They offer many different special sets during lunchtime, but if you’ve got a craving for spiciness, then you should definitely give their mabo tofu a try. (^^
