“Tomarigi” in Higobashi

An izakaya bar that generates a queue even in the afternoon

I went to “Tomarigi”, a izakaya bar in Higobashi for lunch today.

This izakaya bar only has a counter and is situated on the north-west side of the Higobashi crossroads. Come here around 12 midday and you will be met with a long queue!
The lunchtime menu consists of only 2 items – ‘Oyakodon’ (Chicken and egg on rice), and ‘Gyusukidon’ (Beef and onions on rice). I couldn’t choose which one to order as they both sounded great, but as I fancied eating egg I ordered the Oyakodon.
The texture of the egg was soft, fluffy, and self-cooked – just the way I like it!

The deliciously fluffy egg was seasoned with an amazing soup!

You can choose between nyumen noodles and somen noodles. I went for the nyumen noodles, but it was the soup that amazed me. It had such a fine and rich taste – just how I like it!
You can have a large portion of rice for no extra fee, and you can have as many nyumen noodles as you eat for free. The price of this amazing Oyakodon set is a mere 780 yen!

I’d like to come here in the evening and eat Oden.

The izakaya bar is very small with a counter that can only seat 15 customers. This is probably why it quickly gets full during lunchtimes.
I arrived at the izakaya bar at around 2:00pm, so there were only a few other customers.
The store is open for lunch from 11:00am ~ 3:00pm. As it is quite a long time, I’d recommend you to visit outside of the rush hour!
