Chasuirou Toki no Ha
If you want to enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea set with Chinese tea, I recommend Tokinoha!
I recommend Tokinoha’s afternoon tea set after lunch or when you were too busy to have lunch, or when you want to chat at a girls’ lunch out.
Chasuiro Tokinoha is located on the 2F (sister shop) of ” Shuchuka Kuushin “, a popular Chinese restaurant I frequent for lunch in Shinmachi, Nishi-ku, Osaka.
At the top of the stairs is a heavy and bizarre door…
The handles are coming out of the mouths, but the expressions are rather scary. Some people may have turned back without opening this door.
When I tentatively opened this strange door, what do you know, there was a fancy room lined with Chinese antiques!
The shop was made according to the owner’s tastes, so there was a full array of classy antiques from tables to accessories.
The shop seemed especially particular about tea, and many dishes for enjoying delicious tea were displayed.
What I had in this fancy room was the afternoon tea set available during 14:00~17:00 only.
I went after I ate lunch, but my appetite automatically rose, perhaps with the help of the spicy scents in the shop.
First, I had 2 kinds of dim sum and daikon mochi.
Both the dim sum and daikon mochi had condensed flavors of the ground ingredients.
Personally, it was yummier than the dim sum I ate at a famous shop in Taiwan.
Different sauces were prepared so customers could taste each one at its yummiest, and I thought that was a wonderful presentation.
Next, I had the sweets plate.
The set consisted of mango cake, almond pudding, and goma dango.
The moist donut-like cake had wonderful balance between the sweet cake and tart sauce.
The spicy doubanjiang accent was also exquisite.
The melt-in-your-mouth almond pudding was lightly sweetened and left a fresh aftertaste.
Because of its light flavor, I felt I could eat this forever.
And my favorite today, goma dango.
The contrast between the crunchy and fragrant sesame seeds and the mildly sweet black sesame paste was delightful.
I had an image that goma dango was extremely sweet, but Tokinoha’s goma dango wasn’t overly sweet and matched the sesame seeds’ flavor exquisitely.
I chose the Taiwanese High Mountain Tea this time, and its elegant flavor that refreshingly wraps up any food was wonderful.
I could choose one type from the following teas, and I had many refills of freshly-made tea.
Chinese tea (pot)
・Taiwanese High Mountain Tea
・Chinese Green Tea
・Oriental Beauty Sparkling
・Taiwanese High Mountain Tea
・Phoenix Oolong Mi Lan Xiang
I have a feeling just the tea would cost decently at other shops…
I would like to taste the other teas too.
The last plate had a confectionery made of black beans, quail eggs cooked in oolong tea, and a variety of dried fruits.
These sweets perfectly matched the Taiwanese High Mountain Tea as well.
I thought that was all, but there was still a litchi sorbet.
The sorbet had a straight litchi taste and a fresh aftertaste, and presented a wonderful ending.
The portions, the tastes, the service, on every count it was a wonderful afternoon tea set that continually surprised me, and I could hardly believe it was all for only 1500 Yen.
The sweets plate, dim sum (daikon mochi) and goma dango were exceptionally delicious.
・For those who want to enjoy delicious tea
・For those who were too busy to have lunch
・For those who want to have an elegant girls party in the daytime at a convenient price
I recommend Toki no Ha’s afternoon tea set! Please go check it♪
