“Kuma no Yakitori” in Tenshinbashisuji 6-chome: I was impressed by their chicken sashimi using rare parts and their reasonably-priced chicken barbecued over charcoal fire.
I had dinner at “Kuma no Yakitori”, a yakitori (grilled chicken) restaurant located in Tenshinbashisuji 6-chome.
This is a restaurant that has opened recently, but it has become popular for its outstandingly fresh chicken sashimi and its chicken grilled over charcoal fire – it is so popular that it has gotten to the point that it is already difficult to make a reservation there!
I started with their “Assorted Plate of 12 Types of Chicken Sashimi” (2400 yen,) which is available only upon reservation.
The owner slices into pieces chicken killed at 4 am every morning, thus keeping its freshness and discarding nothing, so customers can enjoy the rarest parts!
Here they served me 14 different types of sashimi, some of them from parts I had never even heard about before!
I had them with a rather sweet soy sauce and sesame oil…
WOW, this is delicious!!
Thanks to having been kept so fresh, the texture and flavor of each part is amazing!
I could go on drinking forever with these as side snacks(^^
The “Omakase Course of 7 Skewers” (2000 yen) is a value course that includes 7 skewers recommended by the owner plus one dish!
The course opened with a dish called “Unimune” (the picture shows two servings.)
This dish consists in breast meat topped with a mixture of sea urchin and yam!
I wrapped it in seaweed and had it in one bite…
The light taste of the breast meat goes well with the soft flavor of the yam and tastes delicious!
This has been gently grilled over Kinshu Binchotan high-quality charcoal from Wakayama prefecture.
The tender thigh meat, along with the spring onion, impregnated with the aroma of the charcoal, is exquisite!
This is really tasty and very popular, but since it is from a rare part, servings are limited to one per customer.
Oh, so yummy!!
The fluffy texture and the sweet flavor of the fat are wonderful!
Grated daikon (Japanese radish) and a salad.
These are so refreshing!
The texture is good and the flavor is so rich!
Oh my, delicious!!
The amount of fat is delicious, and the way that its sweetness mixes with the sauce is so incredibly tasty!
The heart is grilled as is, without cutting it!
The texture is very good, and it is so juicy inside!
The two on top are grilled with salt, and the bottom one is grilled with sauce, so customers can enjoy two different types!
This is so nice of them!
Both the salt and the sauce do not fail in bringing out the flavor of the meat and taste great!
The resilient bouncy texture feels good, and meat juices flow out as you bite!
“Tamago Kake-Gohan” (Egg on Rice) (Available for an additional 300 yen if you are having the “Omakase Course”)
The eggs on top of the rice have been gently removed before they even become an actual egg!
When you stick a skewer into it…
The egg yolk flows out as if it was melting!
I mixed it well with the rice and then ate it…
Oh wow, just delicious!!
I cannot resist the rich flavor of the eggs!
I was so full and really, really, REALLY satisfied!!
This is a great place both for ordering à-la-carte dishes to go with your drinks, and for having a plentiful course meal. Whichever way you go, though, you must definitely order their assortment of chicken sashimi!
From the tidy counter seats, you can enjoy a view of the owner at work grilling the skewers.
They also have a zashiki style room floored with tatami mats for groups of 6 to 8 people at the back of the restaurant.
It appears that it is already difficult to make a reservation at this restaurant.
And when you go after making a reservation, they greet at the entrance of the restaurant with a card like this!
This is really nice of them!
I will definitely be making a reservation again to return to this restaurant!
