“Fromage Cru” from “POIRE” in Kitashinchi

Kitashinchi Cheesecake Discovery that Goes Great with Wine!

If you’re looking for a sweet that will go great with wine in Osaka’s Kiashinchi shopping district, I recommend “Fromage Cru” from “POIRE”.
“POIRE” is Osaka’s leading sweet shop.
They have two store locations in Kitashinchi.

For this occasion I visited “POIRE Du Nord”, which doesn’t have a café space.
Watch for their gorgeous chandelier inside the store.

Their front showcase is full of cakes.

Aside from cakes, they have the “POIRE” specialty ice cream and baked sweets.

There also have many great chocolates that are great for pairing with alcohol.

From these many attractive sweets, I chose ”Fromage Cru” (360Yen+tax).
There were many chocolate cakes as well, but since I wanted a cheesecake I chose the “Fromage Cru”.

Look at this rich-looking deep yellow!

The crumbs sprinkled around the sides look fabulous.

It looks too beautiful to eat, but… here we go!

I was imagining a soufflé but it’s the opposite: it has a rich and firm texture.
The cheese flavor floods your mouth. It’s like eating straight cheese.
So goooooood!!!!
Since you can really enjoy the cheese flavor in this cheesecake, you’ll want to pair it with something with high acidity, like a red wine.
It’s great on its own but also great with wine! This cheesecake really lived up to the Kitashinchi reputation.
I recommend “Fromage Cru” from “POIRE” if:
•You love cheesecake
•You love red wine
•You are looking for a delicious sweet or wine pairing in Kitashinchi

“POIRE Du Nord” is open until 2 in the morning, so it’s also recommended if you are ever too late to buy sweets at the Umeda department store.
