I had dinner at “Kohaku”, a sushi restaurant in Shinsaibashi.
The restaurant’s menu offers a single option of a 10,000 yen chef’s choice course, but it has a very good reputation for its content being amazingly reasonably priced, so that is what I had today.
Roasted duck, whelk, and “ohitashi” (boiled spinach with soy sauce.)
Oh wow, this is delicious!!
The luxurious seasoning of these is exquisite!
Ginger, julienned radish, wasabi and shredded dried plum were served.
The staff told me to mix the wasabi and the dried plum to try and eat them like that…
I did not expect them to compliment each other this well!
I tried and ate them together with some ginger too…
Oh my, so yummy!!
It appears that the grains on top are from a plant called finger lime.
I had the staff show me what the actual finger lime looks like.
This was the first time I ate it, but I think it can be used not only with fish, but also with meat or sweets!
Its flesh is so beautiful, isn’t it?
Wow, outstandingly delicious!
“Homemade roasted ham and potato salad”
Being able to have these kinds of dishes at a sushi restaurant is really nice!
Plus, they are really tasty!!
“Noresore” (baby sea eels)
This really feels like spring.
They have a slimy texture to the tongue, and match the ginger flavored broth exquisitely!
I had never seen such a large young corn until now!
“Firefly squid shabu-shabu”
Firefly squid from Toyama prefecture!
When the soup starts boiling…
All you have to do is dip the squid lightly into it and gently move it to cook it shabu-shabu style…
Oh wow, mouthwatering!!
“Western-style chawanmushi with crab”
Ah, this is yummy!!
The flavor of the egg is really rich, and it certainly does not taste like Japanese food, but rather like some Western dish, which is amazing!
“Wild eel kabayaki”
(Wild eel dipped and broiled in soy-based sauce)
This is a really fleshy eel!
I put some wasabi on top of it to eat it…
Wow, tastes heavenly!!
It is so juicy that you can almost feel the tasty fat coming out when you bite on its tender texture!
And here is the sushi, finally! It starts right off with a piece of “sea urchin”!
I was so impressed by the sweet and rich flavor of the sea urchin!
The more you chew it, the more you can feel its flavor and sweetness coming out!
Oh my, so tasty!!
It is really really sweet and delicious!
“Densuke anago” (Large sea eel)
This is a really huge sea eel!
Ah, I have no words to express how good it is!!
It is so soft that you do not even need to chew it!
Oh, so good!!
It has a great texture and it is so sweet!
I had an amaou strawberry for dessert, and ended up so full and really, really, really, completely satisfied!!
It is really amazing how satisfying this 10,000 yen course is!
The L-shaped counter seats have a really luxurious feeling to them.
They also have private rooms that are ideal for when you want to have a more relaxed meal or do some business talk!
Located in a rather secluded place among other buildings, this restaurants feels very much like a hideaway place!
This is a great place to enjoy a course meal that includes a good amount of exquisite dishes and authentic sushi that will make you full.
I recommend making a reservation in advance before going!
